  • Valerie Plis
    Job Search Ministry Network

First giving honor to God, who is the head of my life, I would like to give thanks and praise to Valerie Plis, Job Search Ministry, and staff.

The Job Search Ministry has helped me to produce the optimal level of readiness with regard to my job search. Valerie has taken career coaching to a new and exciting level. The method that she uses makes the job search intense and fun at the same time. Valerie has helped me to get energized and motivated, which prepared me for my job search.

The Job Search Ministry seminars gave me the tools needed to get into the hidden job market, while also helping me to start believing in myself again. There is something about being laid off, being downsized or just losing a job that takes a toll on you. It also takes a little bit of your soul and your esteem as well. Because of Valerie's expertise and enthusiasm, and her strong belief in God, and her method of teaching, I was able to get back up and get moving again. Believing in the gifts that God has given you is the first step in getting the job or career that you deserve. As in the lyrics of one of my favorite songs, “we fall down, but we get up. The bible teaches us that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Believe in yourself, and in the power of God, and you will find yourself as successful in your job search as I’ve been.

I am happy to report that I have landed a position with the United States government, as a Finance Specialist. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to my church and to Valerie Plis for believing in me and equipping me with the tools, and the strength I needed to continue on into my future and to continue on in the race. God bless the Job Search Ministry staff, may God keep his hand upon each of your heads, and may each of you go forward into the future with the Grace of God that is sufficient for you. Be a “Purple Cow”.

    Lots of Love,
    Sincerely,

    Shelisa O’Conner
  • Dear Valerie,

Just a quick note to thank you for the Job Search Ministry classes that I have been attending since December. By following the lessons you taught I have been able to enter the job market in a professional manner. I used the tools to create a Purple Cow message, cover letter, and resume to enhance my chance of being offered a job. This resulted in an interview last Wednesday and a follow up interview on Tuesday with a job offer. I start to work for a local trucking company on Monday. After the first interview I made sure to send a follow up letter thanking them for the opportunity to meet with them.

I am thankful for the career training to learn how to proceed in the job search and am convinced that with your coaching the job search was much easier.

Thank you again and may God Bless you and all in the class.

  • You need to experience what the Job Search Ministry has to offer. If you or anyone you know is in a job transition, this IS the touch you need. Valerie’s extraordinary experience and genuine concern sets her apart from others attempting to coach and strengthen your skillset. There are ways to do it, then there are ways to do it RIGHT! I have seen firsthand the way the program is able to apply critical focus to help you transform your job search overnight! You will not be disappointed.”

  • I think the biggest difference was that you and our wonderful Pastor made all this possible for the unemployed to have a professional answer our questions, guide us and give us insight on the proper procedure on job interviews and the fact we had you to lean on and ask questions. I would never have called the agency back but after talking to you and having the reassurance that sometimes it takes them a while and it was OK to call again, gave me the encouragement to do so. As a result, I landed the job!

  • “I have led a job search group called JUMPSTART for over 5 years. It is our goal to offer quality programming on job search and job transition related topics. We typically have subject matter experts speak to our professional job seekers on these topics of interest. Valerie Plis has supported the JUMPSTART group as a volunteer presenter for over 4 years, presenting on topics such as “Job Search Strategies in a Tough Economy” and “Critical Elements of a High Impact Interview.” Her presentations are professionally formatted PowerPoint presentations which contain information that is relevant, current and practical with clear action steps to take for increased success. Her style is friendly and approachable, yet clearly demonstrates her extensive knowledge as a certified career coach. Her willingness to support our JUMPSTART group is equally matched by our participant’s interest in her presentations. When I recently announced at a meeting that Valerie was scheduled to speak at an upcoming meeting, participants actually clapped and cheered!”

  • Information from your seminar came in quite handy! Being able to articulate exactly how I could help them develop their digital marketing program was critical. I made concrete suggestions that were well received. The interviewer was very straightforward and direct. He threw the old "So, tell me about yourself, what do you do?" at me right away, and then later asked, "So why should I hire you and not somebody else?" Because I had thought about what makes me purple-cowish, I was able to give meaningful responses rather than babbling incoherently. I have no doubt that that helped set me apart.

  • I wanted to let you know that I have begun a new career as a Project Manager. Your One Critical Day class was a great help in guiding me to craft a message to help me stand out. My new manager mentioned that I was kinda like the "best available athlete in the NFL draft" which helped me stand out from the other candidates. Thank you so much for your guidance and assistance.

  • I highly recommend this day to anyone who wants to energize their job search! Valerie Plis brings a level of professionalism to the job search process, which is unsurpassed by any other job search group. You will learn job search skills which will help you to focus on your job search journey. I wish I had met Valerie Plis the first day of my job search!

  • I’m pleased to report that, after 4 months of unemployment, I have verbally accepted a position. I couldn’t have done this without you and the other students who supported me every step in the process.

  • Monday I started my new job as the Client Executive in charge of business development for new manufacturing industry clients throughout the Midwest. It was 47 days from my last employment at HP to this offer. Even though I had strong outplacement services from a globally-recognized leader in the field I must say the Job Search Ministry program made the true difference. I was able to create a great purple cow and prepare even better for my interviews, etc. As Valerie knows, I was so convinced her program is superior to any others that I felt God’s call to start a job search ministry at my church (Cornerstone UMC). As a result I have just completed Valerie’s exceptional 4-day Faith Career Advisor training and look forward to serving job seekers and God in this special ministry. I wish to encourage all that this program works and with God’s participation will help you find the great next door open for you and your family. Believe and have faith you are not along in this journey. God, your instructor, your class, and I pray; your church family are ALL in your corner. So remember – “I can do all things thru Christ who strengths me” Phil 4:19.

  • “I would strongly recommend that anyone that is currently in career transition or even thinking about it attend a One Critical Day workshop. It was outstanding in scope, great for motivation, and Valerie was an excellent teacher and coach. You will leave feeling equipped, refreshed, and ready to go.”

  • “I highly recommend the Job Search Ministry program. With their guidance, assistance, and positive attitude I was able to land a great job in this tough economy. The insight and perspective provided on the often confusing and contradictory job search process, was extremely valuable/. Keep up the great work!”

  • Just a quick note from one of your 'students' wishing you and yours a very joyous and Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I have gained more from you than I will ever be able to repay or probably more than you may ever fully understand. My life has not turned out nearly like I had hoped and I have failed more than I have 'ExceededWithPurpose' but your encouragement, warmth and support has meant a lot to this broken old soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you continue to do for others. Peace to you this Holiday Season and beyond.

  • I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the One Critical Day Seminar. You are so professional and so inspirational and I can truly say I learned a lot of valuable information . . . it’s really amazing how much things have changed after 15 years. Also, thank you so much for the “Strengths Finder 2.0” book. Your generosity was a bit overwhelming to me. I am not used to being in the place of “receiving” so it does not come easy; but as God has said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”

May you be blessed for your act of kindness.
